Your money mindset is a critical lever for accelerating the business…the success…the life you want.
Jul 01, 2021If you fear or suspect that your relationship with money is holding you back in your business, please - grab a coffee and spend just four or five minutes with me.
In fact, even if you’ve never given a thought to your money mindset but you’re finding it hard to break through your income barrier and make more money – this is for you too.
My name’s Karen Kissane, and I’m an award-winning coach and mentor for smart women in business. Specifically, really smart women who want to achieve remarkable success in a thriving and profitable business.
I’m also a successful business owner myself, so my expertise in helping people just like you to get better results comes from looking through both ends of the telescope.
And from both those perspectives I know that your money mindset is a critical lever for accelerating the business…the success…the life you want.
But don’t get me wrong – this isn’t about manifesting or cosmic ordering or any kind of ‘woo’ where you tell the universe how much money you want and then just sit back and wait for it. This is about using your mindset as a business lever…doing any inner work you need to do around money, so that it drives the actions and behaviours you need to get the results you want.
I’d love to share with you just three quick reasons why this is something you need to think about if you’re really serious about making more money in your business.
It doesn’t matter, by the way, what you were brought up to believe about money, or what money story you have right now. But it does matter if those beliefs – given to you by others, probably – shape or colour what you do now, or stop you making your best business decisions.
NUMBER ONE. If on some deep and subconscious level you believe money is bad, or greedy, or sleazy – you’re going to find it really hard to ask to be paid for what you do.
Money blocks will make you feel uncomfortable about actually selling, about closing the sale. Those old thought patterns will also make it painful, maybe even impossible, to chase customers and clients for money that is owed to you. And – perhaps worst of all – they’ll lead you to underprice your service or your product. And that money block is only taking you one way – doing more work, for less money!
NUMBER TWO. In a successful business, money just isn’t a stress factor. What do I mean by that? Well, for one thing, if you are feeling stressed about money, often for no specific reason…it adds to all your mental noise and a feeling of dread and overwhelm. And those two things put a massive handbrake on your success.
But more importantly, whatever you focus on most is where your time and energy goes.
If you’re worrying about money…perhaps fearing that there won’t be enough or that your income won’t last…you’re going to make decisions and take action shaped by that belief, instead of the decisions and actions that will move you towards the goal you want to achieve.
And all the time and energy you spend worrying about money is time and energy you should be spending on the things that will grow your business, and bring you joy.
And finally, NUMBER THREE. If there’s one thing successful business owners have in common, it’s that they invest in themselves and their business. They invest in the skills, the branding, the technology, the reach, the customer experience, the training and knowledge that they need. They invest in the business they want to be, as well as the business they are right now. They engage the best experts to help them break down barriers and get the results they want.
But if your money mindset is one of scarcity and fear, the chances are you won’t invest. And then, whatever is keeping you small, or holding you back may become permanent characteristics of your business – and isn’t that just the biggest waste of opportunity and potential?…all for a money story that you’ve probably inherited from someone else, with a completely different set of circumstances, anyway!
The good news is that if you’ve spent the last four or five minutes with me on this video, it’s because you want to achieve more AND you’re willing to get out of your own way to do that. That mentality sets you apart, and it sets you up for success.
And if you’d like to look at some of the steps you could now take to build on that
